Introduction
A 4-port HDMI splitter over CAT5e/CAT6 cable is a device that allows you to distribute an HDMI signal from a single source (such as a Blu-ray player, gaming console, or computer) to multiple displays or screens located in different rooms using CAT6 network cables. This setup is often referred to as HDMI over CAT6 or HDMI over Ethernet.
Here's how it generally works: You have a source device (e.g., a Blu-ray player) that has an HDMI output. This device is connected to the HDMI splitter. The HDMI splitter takes the HDMI signal from the source device and splits it into four receivers. Instead of using traditional HDMI cables to connect the splitter to the displays, CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cables are used. These cables can transmit HDMI signals over longer distances with the help of the extender and the receivers. The HDMI extender set converts the HDMI signal into a format suitable for transmission over CAT5e or CAT6 cables and then converts it back to HDMI at the destination.
This HDMI over CAT5e/CAT6 extender require power for the transmitter as well as each receiver. The package comes with the required power adaptors.
Benefits of using CAT6 for HDMI distribution include longer cable runs (compared to standard HDMI cables), reduced cable clutter, and the ability to transmit signals to distant displays. However, it's essential to ensure that your CAT6 cables are of high quality and capable of transmitting HDMI signals without degradation.
