Billion 8800AXL arriving now

The new Billion BiPAC 8800AXL is about to arrive - it's brand-new wireless AC broadband router that delivers wireless speeds as fast as 1.3 gigabits per second!

Based on a Broadcom chipset, the BiPAC 8800AXL supports ADSL2+ and is fibre-ready, using an Ethernet Wide Area Network port to hook into the NBN as soon as it comes to your house. The router also has four additional gigabit Ethernet ports plus two USB 2.0 ports, allowing for 3G/4G modem connectivity, print serving or Network-Attached Storage.

The router also supports the new IEEE 802.11 ac wireless standard, which means it can deliver wireless networking as fast as 1.3 gigabits per second (Gb/s).

With Wireless AC and gigabit Ethernet ports, the 8800AXL is designed for the age of fibre. Its Broadcom chipset means it will deliver fast reliable Internet access over ADSL2+ until fibre arrives.

Approved in January this year, the IEEE 802.11 ac standard promises multi-gigabit Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) speeds in coming years. Best of all, Wireless AC is backwards compatible, so it will work with the current generation of Wireless N devices.

Wireless AC provides high-throughput WLAN speeds by taking advantage of frequencies on the 5 GHz band. The BiPAC 8800AXL achieves its speed from 300 megabits per second on the 2.4GHz frequency range and 1300 megabits per second on the 5GHz range.
